Sony Courts Selfie Enthusiasts With New Xperia Phones

Sony today unveiled two new midrange Android 5.0 smartphones aimed at mobile photographers.
The Xperia C5 Ultra incorporates twin 13-megapixel front and rear cameras, while the Xperia M5 boasts a 21.5-megapixel main shooter.
Sony's PROselfie smartphone, the 6-inch C5 Ultra (pictured) features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage—enough space to house your favorite scenic memories or BFF selfies. The front-facing shooter also gets a boost from a 22mm wide-angle lens and the enhanced Selfie Flash, which lightens more of the frame.
Each camera includes the Exmore RS sensor, HDR setting, and preset auto-scene recognition mode for "perfect results every time." And the phone's Full HD 1,920-by-1,080 display makes it easy to admire your photography while on the go.
Powered by a 1.7 GHz 64-bit octa-core processor, the C5 Ultra also features Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and one-handed operation mode, as well as a 2,930mAh battery for up to 14 hours of talk time and almost eight hours of video viewing.Sony Xperia M5
Its smaller sibling, the Xperia M5 (left), meanwhile, stands at 5 inches, with a Full HD 1,920-by-1,080 display, a 64-bit octa-core processor, and 2,600mAh battery. Perhaps its most impressive feature, however, is its 21.5-megapixel rear camera, with 5x Clear Image Zoom.
It also sports a 13-megapixel front-facing cam, integrated with autofocus and full HD video recording; users can tap into a host of Sony camera apps, like Face In Picture, AR Mask, and Style Portrait.
Don't worry about spills or splashes: Just rinse off the waterproof and dust-tight M5 under the tap. It'll even work in a rainstorm, so you can call a taxi or find the nearest train station.
"We understand that camera capabilities are important to smartphone users, so we ensured that Sony's existing camera brilliance was once against surpassed in the new Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 without compromising on other features across design and performance," Sony Mobile Communications' Tony McNulty said in a statement.
Both phones have expandable memory up to 200GB, and will be available in selected countries later this month in single- and dual-SIM variants. C5 Ultra buyers can choose from black, white, or mint; the M5 comes in black, white, or gold.
