As a longtime smartphone user, the bigger the phone I have the bigger the desire to use a case that has a built-in stand. If you're like me and you have an iPhone 6 or especially if you have an iPhone 6 Plus, you'll want a case that can prop up the phone for movie watching, FaceTime or Skype chattering or any other tasks that require you to hold the phone for a long period of time. The BoxWave Dual+ Holster Apple iPhone 6 Case has a built-in stand that can prop the new iPhone in both landscape and portrait orientations. It also comes with a holster that covers and protects the front display. The iPhone 6 case is available now and the iPhone 6 Plus version should be available by next week.

Design

The BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case comes in two parts: a form fitting case and a holster with a belt clip. Both parts are made with rigid polycarbonate with rubber-like soft touch coating that makes the case feel grippy. Surprisingly the interior of the phone case doesn't have any soft lining but the interior of the holster has soft fabric lining that's kind to the iPhone's display. The phone case slides into the holster easily and once it's in, it fits securely in the holster and won't slide out by accident easily.

Even with two parts, the BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case isn't very bulky and the iPhone 6 version weighs 2.4 ounces. The belt clip on the holster is also quite slim but it's strong enough to hold the weight of the phone plus the case. The clip has 180-degree rotation so that you can clip the phone onto your bag's shoulder strap, your belt or any other place in any angle. When the case is docked inside the holster, the BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case covers the entire phone and protects it from scratches, bumps and even some shock damage.

Features

The BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has all the necessary cutouts for ports and buttons on the phone. The case has generous side cutouts for the power button, the silence slider and the volume buttons. It leaves out most of the top and bottom of the phone open, so you have access to the Lightning port, the audio jack, mic and speaker easily. The case allows you to use most accessories such as speakers, alarm clocks and docking stations with your phone. The rear cutout is also quite generous, giving plenty of space to the rear camera and flash.

The most attractive feature on the BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case is the built-in stand. It has a unique design: two panels fold up to form a stand and flatten out to sit flush with the case. The stand works well in landscape mode and it also works reliably in portrait mode which is rare. The two panels slide on built-in tracks and they're easy to use. In addition, the belt clip on the holster also has a locking spring that puts the belt clip into a stable stand. However, the phone case fits in the holster only when it faces in, not faces out. So there isn't much use for the stand in the belt clip.

Conclusion

If you watch a lot of videos or do a lot of video chatting on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you might want to give the BoxWave Dual+ Holster Case a look. The case is protective and functional, but most of all, the built-in stand works and in both landscape and portrait orientations. The case currently comes in only Jet Black, but a white version is coming. We like how easy it is to use the stand and how protective the case is for both the back and sides of the phone and the front display when it's in the holster. We only wish the phone's case had a soft lining.
