New Samsung Galaxy A8 Turns Heads at Launch
The mid-range phone market is heating up as Samsung Malaysia has launched the Galaxy A8. With a thickness of just 5.9 mm, the Galaxy A8 is the slimmest Galaxy device to-date.
Samsung Malaysia launched the device at the Samsung Experience store in Gardens, MidValley, where a bevy of models walked down the runway while showing off the beautiful thin smartphone. Malaysian actress Juliana Evans also made an appearance, having being recently appointed as the Galaxy A8 celebrity ambassador.
Despite weighing just 151 grams and having a thickness of 5.9 mm, the device has a sophisticated cut metal frame and full metal body. Inside, the Galaxy A8 is powered by quad core 1.8GHz and 1.3GHz processors, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB internal memory storage. Its microSD slot allows its storage to be expanded up to 128GB, and the system comes installed with the latest Android Lollipop 5.1 OS.
In addition to its powerful specs, the Galaxy A8 sports a large 5.7" Full HD Super AMOLED display and a narrow bezel of just 2.5 mm. The Galaxy A8 also comes with a high resolution 5MP front and 16MP rear cameras, both with f1.9 aperture and HDR functionality. Users will be able to record and playback UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) video @ 30fps.
"The Galaxy A8 is a beautifully crafted device - stylish on the outside and substantiated by its incredible performance on the inside," said Lee Jui Siang, Vice President, Mobile, IT & Digital Imaging, Samsung Malaysia Electronics. "It is a stunning sequel to the Galaxy A series translating into the slimmest Galaxy device yet."
The Galaxy A8 is now available in Malaysia in Gold, White, and Black color options. The device has a RRP of RM1888.
